A recent study published in the medical journal Fertility and Sterility reveals that there may be a down side to Viagra pills: infertility. Indeed, some researchers now believe that taking this medication may be putting men’s fertility at risk. This is particularly troublesome when you consider that this drug is often used in fertility clinics, intended to raise sperm count.

David Glenn is a researcher involved in this study, which was conducted at Queen’s University Belfast. He comments that couples going to fertility clinics are already having difficulty becoming pregnant, and taking Viagra could be making the situation much worse.

Glenn is also concerned about young people using Viagra as a recreational drug. This has become a somewhat common occurrence; people are now mixing it with cocaine and selling it in clubs. Based on these new findings, he believes they may be unknowingly harming their fertility, making it difficult for them to have children later in life. (more…)
